The client is a global contract manufacturer serving leading consumer goods brands in the Air Care and Home Care segments. They needed to build a dedicated fragrance granule filling line at their U.S. facility. Three requirements defined the scope:
1. Difficult material characteristics Fragrance granules have poor flowability and tend to bridge and block at the discharge point, causing inconsistent fill weights and frequent stoppages — a common challenge that standard granule filling equipment is not designed to handle.
2. Space and workflow constraints The existing workshop had a fixed footprint. The new line had to integrate cleanly into the facility without disrupting existing upstream and downstream operations or creating floor traffic bottlenecks.
3. Full-process technical coordination The client needed a supplier who could take ownership across all phases — from layout planning and equipment build through to on-site commissioning and production ramp-up — rather than delivering equipment and stepping away.
Before specifying any equipment, LWT's team analyzed the full workshop material flow and proposed a line arrangement that minimized internal transport distance, eliminated cross-traffic, and made efficient use of the available floor area. This upfront planning reduced the risk of costly layout changes after installation.
The filling machine was adapted specifically for fragrance granule characteristics. The key modification was a redesigned discharge structure to prevent material bridging and blockage at the hopper outlet, ensuring consistent fill weights and uninterrupted line operation. Fill accuracy and material loss reduction were the primary engineering targets.
